Cheap Rates

September 29, 2006 | Permalink

Depending on your destination and travel plans, you don't always need an expensive place to stay.  Sometimes it's worth forgoing the pricey mini-bar or extravagant room service in exchange for a comfortable but more affordable place to lay your head for the night.  And if the hotel you choose exchanges some amenities for some which are even more useful, such as a kitchen or laundry facilities, this can be an even more rewarding decision.

No one wants to stay at a cheap hotel.  The trick is to stay at a high quality hotel but stay there for a cheap rate.  Any traveler comes out ahead by getting great value for a small price.  This can be done a number of ways.  First off, choosing exactly what amenities you need and picking a hotel that you know can offer these options is a great way to narrow in on what is important to you without wasting money on what isn't.  Usually, one chain will have similar features at all the properties, so you have an idea of what to expect no matter where in the country you're staying.  Second, look for special deals.  Whether it's a last minute savings or a special discount for a particular card or membership, there are lots of discounts to be found and these savings can add up.  Sometimes if you stop at a welcome center they will have coupons for local hotels as well.

One great hotel chain to look for when finding these deals and picking out the most important amenities is Extended Stay Hotels.  They offers you wireless Internet, great TV channels, and a spacious suite.  There are lots of deals to be found and this is on top of their low nightly and weekly rates.  You may just need a place to stay, but with a room at one of these hotels you can get that and more for a very low price.

I miss the old prices of the Studio Plus hotels, it seems like now they are all being converted into Extended Stay Deluxe and that renovation has caused the prices to skyrocket to the point where they are not even affordable anymore. The old Studio Plus style was so much better too, more professional and cheaper. Now the renovated ones are that horrible shade of green with all those goofy Feng Shui touches, they look like something one of the Queer Eye folks came up with, and not a traveling professional, plus they are totally impractical now. Why are they only putting 1 chair in the rooms? What were they thinking, now if you have two people trying to work or eat dinner someone has to sit on the bed, not very professional and your still paying extra for that additional person too. Its just a horrible redesign all around, did they even have any focus groups of folks that actually stay in those things? For what its work I do like the new mattresses, dvd players and the expanded cable but just not for the additional cost.

Interesting read. Just a suggestion. If you happen to be in London, you can check out some place to stay in Cornwall. There are still cheap hotels that are incredibly great, almost comparable to three-star hotels.

I am looking for a hotel (with a weekly rate) August 13, 2007 thru August 21, 2007, in the Northeast Dallas Area. Near U.S. 75 (Central) and I-635 (LBJ). One room, king or queen, smoking and only one guest in room.
Thank you and I look forward to your response.

Lee, there is a recently renovated Extended Stay America right where 75 meets 635 in Dallas. They have rooms for the dates you are looking for and they offer a weekly rate. There are smoking rooms available with king and queen beds. Please go to the hotel's website to make the reservation: http://dallas.extendedstayhotels.com/dallas-north-park-central-esa.html
Enjoy your trip!

Greetings from West Texas. Can anyone recomend a inexpensive extended stay or hotel close to to Adam's Mark hotel that is pet friendly. I have to attend a convention in mid May & the Adam's Mark does not accept pets. Gracias,
Rick
