March 21, 2006 | Permalink | Comments (3) | TrackBack
Welcome to Contest #2! Read the following information carefully; there will be a quiz. No really, there will. In fact, a correct answer to the quiz can earn you a free night’s stay at the Extended Stay Hotels property of your choice.
Extended Stay Hotels would like to introduce the newest addition to its accommodation offerings; Ottawa. So if you’re headed up to this Canadian capitol, there’s a new place to stay. The hotel is located in downtown Ottawa, not far from the Byward Market, Parliament, and a wide array of museums such as the Canadian Museum of Contemporary Photography, Canadian War Museum, and National Aviation Museum. The hotel offers valuable features for business trips or vacations, including wireless internet access and full suites. Most rooms also have their own balcony.
With Spring coming up, it’s a great time to head up north to this new Ottawa hotel. With warmer weather comes a selection of entertaining festivals, such as the Canadian Tulip Festival, Ottawa Marathon, the Nortel Ottawa Dragon Boat Race Festival, and the International Jazz Festival. And if you’re in town for business, the hotel is not far from the major convention centers in the area.
Okay, I hope you absorbed all that. Here’s the question:
You just heard about the latest property, expanding ESH’s offerings into Canada. In addition to this, what are the other two hotels that have also been added under the Extended Stay Hotels umbrella most recently? Hint: The Extended Stay Hotels website may be able to help.

Temporary Medical Housing

This entry may be a little off the beaten track of business travel tips and news, but there’s another group of extended stay visitor that I’d like to include in this blog. Extended Stay Hotels is a supportive and comfortable option for people to use as temporary housing when getting medical attention. Whether this is a place for an out of town out-patient to stay or the home away from home of a person staying near a loved on in the hospital, ESH is designed to fit these needs.
Caring for a loved one who is in the hospital is a hard task for anyone. It can be even worse when you’re away from home. Here is some advice that may make this trying time a little easier:
--Think about setting up a blog to let other family members know the patient’s status. That way you won’t have to answer the same question over and over. This is easier with Internet access in each ESH room. Blog services like Multiply (http://multiply.com/), Blogger (www.blogger.com), or Xanga (www.xanga.com) are free and can be a good way to make sure everyone you care about knows what’s going on.
--Discuss a possible visiting schedule. Other people will want to show their support and that is important, as long as this is desired and manageable for the person going through medical treatment.
--Remember that you’re there to be with your loved one. You don’t necessarily have to entertain them at all times. Spend time with them, whether it’s just sitting or watching television. And don’t forget to put some time aside for yourself.
Getting the best treatment for you or your loved one may mean going away, but that doesn’t mean you are on your own. Extended Stay Hotels has great offers and weekly rentals so that it’s inexpensive and comfortable to stay while you’re here and convenient to leave when you’re healthy and ready to head back home.
Last Minute Lodging

Once again, you don’t know that you have to go on a trip until the 11th hour. Amid a flurry of packing and preparations, your company grumbles about the cost of the short notice plane ticket and you grumble about the plans that this short notice trip has so quickly pushed aside. And in the midst of all this planning, you still don’t know where you’ll be staying.
It doesn’t necessarily have to look quite like that. But for whatever reason, sometimes you are caught looking for a place to stay at the last minute. Where is there room and how far out of the way will you have to go? Will you have Internet? Once you get there, where will you eat?
Here’s some good advice about booking last minute business travel without breaking the bank: http://moneycentral.msn.com/content/Savinganddebt/Travelforless/P129587.asp http://businesstravel.about.com/od/hotels/a/booking_last.htm
Unlike airplane tickets, the price of a hotel room doesn’t usually go up as the date gets closer. So if you can drive to the event, you certainly have more ability to be spontaneous with your business plans and still not have this affect your overall budget for the trip. So you don’t have to worry over unexpected travel
And if you want a place to stay that’s affordable, has Internet, has a kitchen to cook in and has convenient locations, you could see if there’s a room available for you at the local Extended Stay Hotels. With all the Extended Stay suites at properties at all sorts of metro regions, you’d probably be surprised at where you can find a room at the last minute. So even if a business trip catches you off guard, you can still find the perfect accommodations for your travels.
